Updating and Further Developing the German National Recommendations for Physical Activity and Physical Activity Promotion

On the 1st of February, we have started a new project the NEBB-Update: Updating and Further Developing the National Recommendations for Physical Activity and Physical Activity Promotion that is funded by the German Ministry of Health.

Physical activity is essential for health – but which recommendations are scientifically sound, and how can they be effectively implemented in practice? Back in 2016, the Department of Sport Science and Sport (DSS) developed the National Recommendations for Physical Activity and Physical Activity Promotion. These have influenced numerous political and societal initiatives in Germany and served as the foundation for many national programs.

With the NEBB-Update, the DSS is bringing the recommendations up to date with the latest scientific findings. New research, target groups, and societal developments call for an update – to ensure more effective physical activity promotion in Germany!

Why is the NEBB-Update important?
🔹 The 2016 recommendations have had a lasting political impact.
🔹 New scientific insights necessitate an update.
🔹 Physical activity is a key factor for everyone’s health – we are refining the recommendations, incorporating new target groups, and addressing further socially relevant aspects!
